This is overall a very fine shirt. The style is very nice indeed. It will be better for a person who has less sensitive skin, not because of the wool, but because of the seams, which have been sewed on a serger, and my sensitivities suggest with thread which may contain or be polyester. Now, two things on this. Since overlock sewing machines date back to the 1880s, it is conceivable that "period correct" garments could be made on them -- but I have not seen any originals from the first quarter of the 20th that are not single-seam. I recognize that to be within a reasonable price range, a serger (overlock sewing machine) may be a necessary economy. For me personally this becomes a problem (as also with the US1916 poplin shirt and the Colonial army and police tropical shorts) when most of the interior seams are worked on a serger: the thread becomes an irritant, particularly in hot, sweaty conditions. That said, it's a fine garment for those who either are not using the piece for museum demos or who can point to originals made overlock or both, or for those who are not as delicate wilting lilies as myself.

Two complaints - it is a larger size but the collar is not correspondingly larger. Also, it isn’t very long. It isn’t just you, reproduced shirts never seem long and trousers are just not high waisted enough. I wore all weekend at event. It worked well.

I’m not in reenactment but I’m a big fan of O.D. Vintage style army shirts from both WWI and WWII. I purchased two of the US M1916 Pullover Wool Shirts to use as “hiking and camping” shirts. These are very well made and very high quality and thick! Nothing feels cheap about them at all! Be warned though they are not soft merino wool so you should wear an under shirt with them as they are just a little itchy but not like the old school itchy wool. Comfortable just the same. I’m 5’ 10” and a thin 145 lbs. I purchased size 42 and it fits great! A little bit of room for layering and sized up so it’s easier to pull over my head and shoulders so I recommend ordering a slight size up from your normal shirt size. The interior includes the sewn in cotton layer inserts from the top of the front shoulder to top chest just like the originals did for added strength and comfort. I recommend these US M1916 Pullover Wool Shirts!

Not a reenactor, just appreciative of history and historic clothing in a modern world. This is a great shirt and fits perfectly. It is not, however, for warmer weather, at least for me. But as a cold weather shirt, particularly for outdoor activities, I think it is perfect. Expensive, perhaps, but not as much as some others from other vendors that I am not as pleased with.Very comfortable and layering friendly. I'm a husky fellow (5'11"and 260) and ordered the size 52.

I have one of the earlier versions of this shirt. This later version is not only (I think) true to color and style, and looks original. But feels soft without any of the itching of wool. I gotta say I totally Love this shirt!!!! Great job!!!!

Nice shirt. Good quality. I bought one size up based on some reviews and it was a smart choice. Makes it a whole lot easier to get on and doesn't look baggy. Sleeves could be just a little longer since shrinkage is an issue with wool.

The cloth and color look good. Well made. Nice repro.
My issue is being tall, long arms, etc, the tail could be about 10" longer. I am a 44 (6' 1" and not overweight) and it is tight in the back-shoulders. My suggestion is a "long & tall" option in the size choices. This goes for all shirt & jacket type items.
