US M1910 Canteen with Cup (Reproduction)

This canteen is a reproduction of the M1910 canteens used by the US Army. These were in service from 1910 until the 1970s. The reproduction is described as being in the WWI-early WWII style. Some canteens ship with a 1917 or 1942 date stamped on them.

The canteen body is made from cast aluminium. The canteen cup is also aluminium and features a folding handle. The canteen comes with an early style aluminium cap, and a later black plastic cap is also included.

The canteen is described as well-built and heavy-duty, with thick metal and strong welds. It is sturdy enough to last for years and can be used in the desert, keeping fluids cooler than ambient temperatures. Some canteens have a minor leak around the neck if filled past that point, but this is not a major issue.

The chain connecting the cap to the canteen is thin and can break under normal use if not handled carefully. The handle and latch on the cup are also described as thin and cheap. Some cups have slightly loose rivets holding the handle mounting, which can cause slow leaks.

The canteen is fitted with an early style aluminium cap, and a later black plastic cap is also included. However, some canteens ship with only the aluminium cap, despite other reviews mentioning both. If you order the metal cap version, it may not come with both.

The canteen is effective at keeping fluids cool, even in hot conditions like 90-degree weather or 110-degree desert heat. It performs better than plastic bottles or canteens, and water stored in it tastes like it is straight from the tap. When used with a felt canteen cover, it keeps fluids cool.
