I'm a 32, ordered 34. One of the few items I could have ordered my actual size. 34's just a little big even after wash and dry but I can live with a slightly clinched up belt. One thing that made these a 4 Star rating is that the left leg has the lacing on the side of the leg but the right leg lacing is more to the front, definitely not on the side like the left leg! Wearing putties it won't be so noticeable but with any boots that don't come up high enough it may look a bit odd.
BTW my pair have two back pockets. I was getting all kinds of answers on Facebook regarding this. Two, one and none were responses but mine (thankfully) have the two rear pockets.

As I have found with these reproduction breeches, it is best to order them one size larger. With one wash they shrink enough to fit comfortably. I like the fly arrangement on this pattern over the metal buttons of the 1908.

The waist is a size 34" but turns out to closer to a 32" waist after minor shrinkage. Even before washing, the waist proved really snug. I might try a 36" waist but worry that the knee might not work as well. Nonetheless, to make the waist work, I'll lose weight! The knee is most important and the knee fits well.
