A Decent Holster for the Price (2021-01-28)
My review of this product may vary somewhat from the experiences shared by others. I purchased this holster from WPG the same day that I also purchased one of their M1916 holsters. Both were received within about a week of placing my order, which was great and impressive considering they were shipped from the Middle East. Of the two holsters, the 1916 holster is the better product. Unlike some customers here, I found that the M1917 S&W revolver fit better in the WPG 1917 holster than the Colt. I did not soak the holster, but instead applied a coat of neetsfoot oil and a small amount of olive oil (to darken) and after about a day of the pistol being in the holster I find it fits just fine. The biggest issue I find with both of the holsters is the type of leather used by the manufacturer. While very thick, it does appear to have been finished and comes with an odd sort of pebbling texture (like finished upholstery). The holster, when received, was rather pink, as opposed to un-dyed. This is where the olive oil comes in handy. If evenly applied, olive oil is a good substance for darkening or browning up a holster like this. The neetsfoot oil would simply not accomplish that on it's own. Examining the two holsters I got from WPG side-by-side, the 1916 holster turned out better and required less work. Still, for the price, this is a decent holster.

Good looking holster (2020-06-18)
Needs to be stretched a bit for my 1909 colt but will be a good form fit after soaking.

Fantastic Reproduction (2019-11-15)
Thick leather makes for a very super authentic looking 1909 holster. Is a very tight fit for a 1917 S&W pistol, but I would guess a brand new original would be also! Great job WPG.
